All drivers in all divisions have a completely free choice of car for each and every event.
There is no need to register car choice with the moderator prior to joining the race.
Race points are, from 1st down to 15th: 50, 41, 33, 26, 20, 15, 11, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0.
Divisions 1 to 3 are using timed pit stops to even out the differences between different cars and allow all marques to race competitely.
If a driver is disconnected during a race, this is regarded as a technical failure, and they are awarded points for the position that GPL shows in the server's race results.
At the end of the season, each driver's worst two scores are dropped from their total. Races which the driver did not attend count as 0 scores.
If they are still equal after comparing finishing places, they are ranked according to least number of yellow card points.
If after the points total is calculated two or more drivers are equal, they are ranked by greatest number of wins, and if still equal, greatest number of second places, and so on.
In the event that they are still equal after all the above tests, the driver who scored their best result first will be ranked higher.
A team may enter as many drivers in each event as it wishes. Drivers will be default be nominated to score team points, but may also be entered as "non-scoring" drivers. Each team must announce any changes to its lineup or scoring nominations before the event by posting the announcement to the main UKGPL mailing list.
Team points are awarded to each driver who has entered on behalf of a team. The same scoring system as the Driver Championship is used. Privateers (drivers with no team affiliation) and drivers who have two or more teammates who finish higher than them are ignored when allocating team points.
That is to say, only the top two drivers from a team score team points, and additional nominated drivers for that team do not take away points from nominated drivers of other teams.
For a team entering more than one car in an event, the team's score for an event is the sum of the team's nominated scoring drivers' team points.
A driver who moves between teams during a season does not take their team points with them.
In championship terms teams cannot merge or split. If two teams merge, all the drivers from the lower-scoring team should move to the higher-scoring team, leaving their points behind. A team cannot split, but some drivers may leave to form a new team, which will start with no points.
Teams are discouraged from entering several "sub-teams", that is, splitting a large team into A and B teams.
A team is permitted to change its name.
